  • Youth Politics Camp 2017

    Young people aged 15-25 years old from North East Victoria have the opportunity to be involved in an innovative two day camp that will focus on understanding the Australian political system. The camp is an opportunity to meet other interested young people and discuss issues you care about.

    When and where

    The camp will be held from Wednesday 5th April to Friday 7th April 2017 at The Old Priory, Beechworth.

    Arrival time: 1.00pm Wednesday 05.04.17

    Finish: 3.00pm, Friday 07.04.17

    What

    Together the Alpine, Benalla, Indigo, Strathbogie, Mansfield, Wangaratta and Wodonga Councils are coordinating a camp during National Youth Week - April 2017.

    The non partisan camp promises to be filled with discussion, debate and fun. The camp will include sessions such as:

    • Introduction to the Australian political system
    • Ethics and decision making
    • Media
    • Networking
    •  Leadership
    • How young people can participate and a have a say

    Costs

    The camp is limited to 30 places and tickets are subsidised for participants living in North East Victoria; the total cost is $60.00 including all meals, accommodation and recreational activities.

    And how we came to be

    The Youth Politics Camp 2017 has been coordinated by a committee made up of local young people and Council youth services from Alpine, Benalla, Indigo, Strathbogie, Mansfield, Wangaratta and Wodonga shire councils. All councils have contributed to the planning, design and implementation of the camp and have made equal financial contributions.
